Amazon Web Services (AWS) has recently announced that they now have blockchain templates available so that users can deploy the blockchain framework of their choice onto their Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) cluster. It can also be deployed to an EC2 instance that is running Docker if desired. The templates are a fast and easy option that don’t require people to spend time manually setting up a blockchain network.
Anyone who has an AWS account can take advantage of the new blockchain templates without any additional charge. The only potential expenses would be if additional resources are required on the AWS system being used. For many people, their existing setups would be sufficient, meaning they could launch a blockchain template quickly, easily, and for free.
This has the potential to be a big event for crypto in general given that it will allow those who are interested to get started with a blockchain in just minutes. This sets the burden of entry extremely low, allowing many more ideas to hopefully flood into the market.
Naturally, many of these will be failures, but reducing the technological difficulties will help to invite people to creating blockchain technologies who may otherwise have been hesitant.
AWS allows users to choose from either Ethereum or Hyperledge Fabric, both of which provide distributed consensus algorithms as well as smart contract functionality. These are two of the most popular options today. There is no word on whether additional platforms will be added in over time, but it seems quite likely given the rapid changes that occur in crypto.
