What does this mean for people who just buy weekly and hold, does it actually change anything?
Practically nothing, but they'll spin the vote itself as "community-driven innovation" for the next six press releases.
The vote outcome matters less than whether they actually document what happens to locked tokens and vesting schedules if they do migrate, that part tends to get buried.
the docs won't matter because if they actually pull the trigger on a migration the vesting wallets are the last thing getting sorted, teams always figure out the tokenomics for themselves first and then "document" whatever's left for everyone else after the fact.
