Genuine question, if no one controls the protocol, how do you hold a middleman legally responsible for what it does?

France doesn't care about technical decentralization, they'll just say the exchange was the access point and that's enough nexus for liability, same logic as holding a broker responsible for products they sell even if they didn't manufacture them.

Exchanges will just quietly delist DeFi access routes and funding on those markets will crater when liquidity dries up, already know how this plays out.

So if an exchange lets you access DeFi through their platform, they'd be on the hook if something goes wrong? How would they even enforce that when the protocols themselves are decentralized and nobody really "owns" them?
