Short term the token incentive masks that question entirely.
Bitcoin fixes this by not having the question in the first place, but fair point on the incentive masking.
Bitcoin has the same masking problem, just denominated in miner subsidies instead of storage rewards.
Still not convinced decentralized storage has found its actual market yet tbh
Storj has been running actual enterprise storage contracts for years, this isn't a whitepaper dream, they have real paying customers moving real data. The market found them; some people just aren't paying attention.
Anyone know if STORJ actually generates real fee revenue from storage demand or is the token incentive side holding this price up? That distinction matters a lot to me before I touch it.
Anybody else check when the last unlock was? Because this pattern feels like someone's been waiting patiently for a liquidity event.
Called it in my head, just didn't type it out, decentralized storage was always going to have its moment.
Decent concept but I keep coming back to the same question with these storage tokens, if you stripped out the token rewards tomorrow, would any actual businesses still be paying to use the network?
